New Floor

Soon after Cae's birthday party, we pulled up the carpet from the kitchen/dining room and put down tile. She helped!
She's a very hard worker.
The end result. Someday we'll have a shiny new kitchen for real. For now, a whole bunch of paint, peel and stick tile and LOTS of elbow grease have given this old kitchen a new lease on life.

More birthday stuff

Caebre's first bouquet...from her daddy for her big day...
A new stroller from Auntie Heather
And what party would be complete without Emergency Services? A little drama on our street, but the fireman were nice enough (once everyone was safe) to take the time to pose with the kids. A very exciting day!

Happy First Birthday, Caebre!!

Our little girl is ONE! We can hardly believe it ourselves. Caebre recently had her one year check up with the pediatrician. She is 26 lbs. and 32" tall, which is 97th percentile for both. Dr. Myatt was very impressed with Caebre's walking and talking. Cae is up to 6 words now - "hi", "bye", "baby", "uh- oh", "ah-boom" and of course, the ever-favorite "DA DA"! Note that none of those words sound like "Mama".

This birthday milestone has gotten both of us feeling very nostalgic. We are amazed on a daily basis how full our lives are, how funny, sweet, adorable and FUN Caebre is. We are truly blessed!!

We celebrated Cae's birthday on Saturday August 1, with about 50 of our closest friends and family. We had a beautiful cake, that happened to be delicious as well, and a GORGEOUS day. Cae had a blast with her cake and seemed to really enjoy all of the festivities.

Update

Hello everyone! Well, we finally moved on June 26. Both closings went without a hitch, though it was a nail-biter right up until the day before the closings. We are so grateful to our friends the Spurrs and the Johnsons who really came thru for us at crunch time. I guess we had a lot more left in Providence than we thought!

WE have been slowly unpacking and getting the house shaped up a bit and more like home. Chris was on vacation until just this week, so we really enjoyed our time together as a family. The weather didn't really cooperate until late last week, but that's ok. We don't miss the condo one bit!!
Caebre is adjusting to her new house beautifully. She is sleeping thru the night and still generally taking two great naps a day (for which I'm grateful!). She loves walking her car up and down the hallway and exploring the house and the attached sunroom.

Phoebe and Sally have settled in nicely. Phoebe has decided that she wants to be an outside kitty. If we don't let her out in the yard, she sits in the big window and yowls. It's pathetic!

We still have lots more boxes to unpack, but as soon as the kitchen is painted, I'll put a pretty good dent in those. We finished the cabinets yesterday and I started the walls the other day. Not looking forward to the walls that go up to the vaulted ceiling! Here are a few pics and I'll post more as we go.

I'll do my best to get back before another 6 weeks goes by!!
The kitchen "before"
There was beautiful hardwood under the laminate (but we were already committed, as we'd started painting on the other side of the kitchen - Grrr!)
During...
And finally some color on the walls!
A lovely warm yellow...will post the "after" pictures...well, AFTER!

Caebre is growing up!

Caebre started walking on her own on July 9...here she is with her "car" - she is still working on her confidence with the whole walking thing.
Taking the stroller for a walk in the park.
Forward facing!!
